Brennan Kearney

Running for:

County Legislator

Brennan Kearney, a mother and small business owner, was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature – representing the towns of Clinton, Rhinebeck (and in 2023 Pleasant Valley) – in 2019. “Many elected officials in my community need to wait until retirement to get involved in local government and the majority of those serving are male.” she reflects, “As a 50-year-old woman and a mother, I chose a different path and embarked on a journey to advocate for services urgently needed by families in our community.

Legislator Kearney firmly believes that elected officials have a duty to advocate for and protect the most vulnerable in our communities – families, those struggling with addiction and mental health issues, the environment, the Veteran community and (particularly in the current political environment) Democratic principles.

While serving in the Dutchess County Legislative minority she has proposed legislation for environmental protection of the Hudson River, child and health care, more services for those struggling with mental health issues and addiction, an environmental consultant, gun safety signage and more.

Legislator Kearney works daily to hold the County accountable for how its budget is allocated and administered. Focusing on district needs, she works on safety concerns on local roads, Northern Dutchess bus service, EMS response times and more.
